Ilaria Sagaria: Chrysalides

Immerse yourself in 15,000 years of Geneva history, reinterpreted by New York artist Carol Bove, born in Geneva in 1971. The exhibition takes a fresh look at the MAH collection, inviting visitors to follow a timeline from regional archaeological discoveries to the most recent contemporary pieces. Presented chronologically, the works take a creative, anthropological, interactive and educational approach. This collective exhibit curated by Marie Maertens explores the multifaceted symbolism of water as both a serene and tumultuous force. It evokes idyllic visions of travel and connection, yet also embodies destruction and the poignant weight of forced departures. Water, as a source of life and emotion, intertwines dreams and despair, summer joy, and the intimate bonds it nurtures. Its fluidity mirrors human experiences, flowing through memory, loss, and desire, resonating with the deepest layers of our existence. Through this poetic and evocative lens, the exhibit becomes a testament to water’s role as a mirror of our emotions and histories.

“Tuning in – The Acoustics of Emotion” is an exhibition that delves into the connections between sound, voice, heritage, and humanitarian action. Utilizing sound archives and collections from the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the International Museum of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the exhibition explores which voices we preserve, their significance, and the role of music in humanitarian efforts. It features soundtracks, historical recordings, posters, photographs, prisoners’ objects, and artworks both historical and contemporary.

8 February – 25 May

Explore a curated selection of works by Michel Grillet, a Swiss artist born in Geneva, at the MAH. Grillet delves into landscape traditions, notably influenced by Japanese art. His drawings, often showcased in series, are marked by a simplicity and precision reminiscent of haiku poetry. This exhibition engages in a conversation with the museum’s collection, highlighting connections with Swiss masters such as Alexandre Calame and Ferdinand Hodler.

3 December 2024 – 26 April 2025

The Forum Meyrin has reopened its galleries, showcasing contemporary artists. Ligia Dias, the first guest artist of the season, has created a monumental piece titled “Inverted Pyramid.” This unique creation, developed with the participation of Meyrin’s residents, incorporates various objects brought in during her residency. A series of meetings and mediations offer insight into the making of this distinctive work.

25 March – 15 June

A photographic installation in Parc des Bastions celebrates the dramatic relocation of animals from the Natural History Museum in Bastions to Malagnou in 1965. Organized by the Museum and the Geneva Library, this exhibition provides a deep dive into the Museum’s former home, showcasing images of the transfer of various specimens.
