Dialogues insolites (Unusual Dialogues) is a city-wide exhibition featuring small installations that explore unexpected connections between different collections, offering new perspectives on the world. This temporary exhibition, part of the closure of Geneva’s Natural History Museum, reveals surprising correlations across various disciplines.

The exhibition is hosted in several locations:

Home is Where We Start From

“Home Is Where We Start From” is a contemporary art exhibition organized by ART for The World, in collaboration with Geneva’s Department of Culture and the Museum of Art and History. Featuring works by around 30 artists with diverse migratory backgrounds, the exhibition explores themes of migration, interculturality, and resilience. Notable artists include Marina Abramović, Mona Hatoum, and Shirin Neshat. The exhibition is curated by Adelina von Fürstenberg and includes a book of interviews on the concept of “home” in the context of migration. A special event on International Women’s Day (March 8, 2025) will feature workshops, performances, screenings, and a concert celebrating women artists.

Invited by the MAH, the “la Caixa” Foundation proposes, through the works of eighteen artists from its collection, an exploration of contemporary art through the prism of the past with L’image revenante. Inspired by the world of Marcel Duchamp, this exhibition explores the ways in which artists confront art history and tradition: through homage, quotation, parody or opposition. Works by Mike Kelley, Vanessa Beecroft, Cindy Sherman, Julian Schnabel, Antonio Saura and Sherrie Levine are presented for the first time in Geneva, the historic center of the Reformation and of debates on the power and persistence of images.

The contemporary art collection of the “la Caixa” Foundation, created in the mid-1980s, has become a benchmark in Europe and one of the most important in the world.

Exposition “Photos de classe. Pose ou grimace?”

Class photos are a true social ritual and remain one of the few printed images that today’s children still get to keep and reflect on. Alongside early writing works and creative activities, the class photo becomes a valuable record of a school journey. Often signed by classmates on the back, it is a cherished memento for some, though disliked by others.

This exhibition explores the evolution of class photos in Carouge, from the early 20th century to its end, highlighting significant changes—shifting from stiff poses to more relaxed, humorous, and playful expressions.

Guided tours, lectures and workshops will be part of this exhibition.
